Making Programs Talk
Modern and future software development is not about building single programs that run happily in their own private environment. Modern applications are distributed and integrated with others using technologies such as REST, web services, web APIs, and asynchronous messaging. In this presentation, we're going to explore several technologies that help programs talk to each other. In this presentation we will explore questions such as:
* REST/web API vs SOAP services
* Are Thrift and other technologies really viable for service implementation?
* What is asynchronous messaging, and how do I best apply it to my solution?
We will explore all topics from both homogeneous (same language/same platform) and heterogeneous (different languages or platforms) perspectives.
